Generator installation on Cape Cod

No electricity means more than just no lights.

Residential Customers:

It can mean no heat, no cooking, no hot water, disabled medical equipment, no cold storage of food…

Commercial Customers:

It can mean no computers, point of sale terminals, no alarms, no refrigeration, and no customers!

Is a portable generator right for you?

Portable generators provide electricity by running a gas-powered engine. The engine turns an on-board alternator to generate electrical power. Power outlets on the unit allow you to plug extension cords, electric-powered tools and appliances.

Reasons to buy a portable generator

Black outs – Small-scale power failures, blackouts, and brownouts. A smaller electric generator is perfect for getting through the few hours that could result in good going bad, keeping you in the dark, or leaving you with no cell phone.

Major Emergencies -Portable electric generators are perfect for large-scale emergencies such as hurricanes, regional blackouts, or grid power failure. For large-scale emergencies, you will want a powerful generator that can last long enough to keep your refrigerator running, and keep your select lighting going so you are not kept in the dark. You can also keep your cell phones charged as they are the lifelines to the outside world. These generators have ports for outlet plug-ins, USB plug-ins, and more.

Portable generators are great for every day use such as outdoor events where you may want lights or power available.

Standby Generators

standby generator is a back-up electrical system that operates automatically. Within seconds of an outage an automatic transfer switch senses the power loss. This action sends a command the generator to start and then transfers the electrical load to the generator. The standby generator begins supplying power to the circuits.

Reasons to buy a standby generator

We have grown increasingly reliant on electrical power. Any interruption in our electrical service whether it is by natural disaster or an event caused by man it can be devastating.  Standby generators provide electrical power when the supply from the electric utility is interrupted. Unlike portable units, a standby generator starts and runs without operator intervention in the event of a power emergency. They work with an automatic transfer switch which selects between utility power and generator power.

Heating and Cooling – The systems that cool and heat homes do more than provide comfort and safety for people. Heat prevents pipes from freezing. Frozen pipes often burst. When they do the resulting flood is devastating. The pipe that leads into a home can supply hundreds of gallons of water per hour. If you’re not home to shut it off, or to call a plumber to shut it off at the street, the ensuing flood can cause thousands of dollars in damage. In the same manner, Summer heat can be hard on the elderly or those with medical conditions.

Safety – Home or business alarms have batteries that may only last a day, but a standby generator will keep your property protected without interruptions.

Protection against moisture or water damage. During power outages sump pumps that keep basements dry are disabled. This can result in basement flooding or mold damage.

How a standby generator works

The operation for a  permanently installed generator is automatic.  You never have to worry about starting or stopping the unit.  You don’t even have to be home.  It will start automatically when it senses an outage and within seconds it is generating electricity.  The automatic transfer switch sends generator power to your home and will continue until power is restored.

The generator runs on existing natural gas or liquefied petroleum (referred to as propane or butane) so there is no manual refueling.
